Ooops!...had to go beefore I could edit/re-edit
So many minutes and things and all
That a minute can reverse

And so I used to drink some mighty fine wine

There was nothing quite like beeing 20ish
And living in der nehe von Weinheim, Germany
With so many lit-up castles turned fine restaurants

German wines had a rating system I used to understand
A chicken stamp on the bottle
(Maybee an eagle but it looked like a chicken to me

There was nothing better than watching Hermann Prey
And Anna singing their hearts out as in Tannhauser

Except good food and wine and celebrating
The full moon in the foothills around Ladenberg
(Die Odenwald)

Happy Valentines Day.

PS: Can't wait for your "big book"!
I'll bee so grateful

I was never a wino. I decided to save the world in the army airborne. Not easy for at 17 in 1969. Got station near Heidelberg, DDR. Remembered reading somewhere that since 400ad, early Romans preferred the wines from the Mosel river valley. Made for some great weekends alone with Hesse.

Good morning Dorothy: You never cease to make me giggle when reading your blog. I enjoy watching the news but lately all it does is make me want to cry. One bad story after another. Just when you think you've heard the worst another horrible tragedy comes along. My heart hurts for what this world is becoming. So much sadness and death. I worked with my husband a few weeks ago and this young couple had a daughter, who is 4 who has a form of ALS for children. Talk about rip your heart out. Her name is Riley. Anyway, in talking to the parents we learned they also have another daugther, Baily, who is younger and weaker and who also has this horrendous disease. It takes everything for me not to burst out crying when we are at their house. So when i get down, or start to feel negative about some trivial thing, that at the time seems important to me, i tell myself now: Think of Riley..and it puts everything into perspective. Just what that family has to go through on a daily basis shocks me right back into reality and makes me take notice of how lucky I am and we all are, and to not take anything for granted in this life. Whatever it takes, whether it be sipping on a nice glass of wine, or watching your children, or just breathing in the fresh air on a glorious day and taking in the beauty all around us , we all need to just be grateful for every second we are here. Cheers Dorothy
