This morning I promised to take a walk. Have sex with my husband, and work on my blog. Well I’ve done one.
Hello Blog.
I get to be home in the morning now. Get to burn the bagels, wake up the kid & kick the snoring, farting dog off the bed. It’s such a gift to ease into the day. I just didn’t initally see it that way.
I did sulk for a week (or 3) after losing my job. So many of you have asked what happened. Well it did involve blood. After 17 blissful (well mostly blissful…but that’s another blog) years at Good Day LA I got a new boss. He said I made his eyes bleed. Not the crusty yucky pink eye. New guy was saying when I spoke it made his eyes bleed. I have read that can happen after you vomit. Now I could almost see my husband saying something like that to me…after all we are married. But from a new boss…
So now I’m working on a few other projects (I know people always say that and its bullshit, but I am working on a few new projects).
People say they miss the 3 of us. Someone said (and you can decide who is who) “They had the good girl, the bad girl & Switzerland & they f-ed it all up”.
So many people have lost jobs. I’m lucky my life isn’t too f-ed up. I have God and my family.
And now I’m taking the farting dog for a walk. Hey that’s 2 out of 3.
Here’s the cliff hanger for tomorrow…Nash is getting a sister. And no I’m not pregnant.
Nice blog format. Love the picture. But Wow, Dorothy, I know Hollywood is cut-throat and full of jerks, but what that guy, the new boss, said was just plain cruel. I mean that comment is ridiculous and totally uncalled for. Although I miss you every morning, I’m glad you’re out of there and can concentrate on more meaningful projects where your involvement is absolutely appreciated.
You are all going to have so much fun with Nash’s new “sister”.
Hey do your thing live your life !!! And enjoy everyday to its fullest !!! I am a stay at home dad and grew up watching GDLA . Things aren’t the same but it’s goo to hear you bringing that sense of humor back to the airwaves!! Do your thing GiRL!!!
Dorothy,
This is worse than we knew….worse than you let on.
What a flaming jerk this guy is! The chemistry you three had on air was perfect, and it worked beautifully!
My husband and I don’t watch much anymore. It’s painful now…..and awkward with Jill not being there much and all of these inappropriate gals floating through.
We will look forward to your next venture and hope we can be part of your audience again.
Sincerely,
Katie Albert
what a terrible peron to say that. he broke the chemistry you had. some like you, some hated Jillian, but together, the three of you put on a gret show. now, I haven’t watched since you left. it is not the show I liked, so hy watch? keep bloggimg, you have a lot to say.
And this is why I miss you and GDLA ( Don’t watch it anymore ) You, Jillian & Steve made the show enjoyable & I always was eager to see what you all came up with. I can’t believe someone would tell you that. I always looked forward to hear what you had to say. You’re such an honest person, which I admire. Hope you get to that 3rd thing to do today Lol Have a great day & Glad you’re keeping yourself busy w the kids & new projects:) Can’t wait to see what you’re up to:)) xoxo
Congrats on the Blog Launch! Looking forward to more. And yes, “that person” who we can probably guess was right. You’re all missed.
Nice start, Dorothy! Now you’ve got a couple more things to attend to today, so I’ll let you go…
Made his eyes bleed?!!!! Are you kidding me! Guess whose eyes are bleeding now?! All the viewers. Well at least the ones that still watch. The show is painful now. All of it. I always thought… If Jill ever leaves I’ll never watch again….. Ha! Little did I know I felt the same way about you and probably Steve. You are missed and I’m sooooo glad you have a blog. Lookin forward to reading it and hearing what you have to say.
Cheers!
I never read anyone’s blog…..yours is the first. I miss all you guys on GDLA. I do not watch it anymore. I always looked forward to seeing you all and hearing what you had to tell us all. I got a few laughs everyday. Now, nothing! Not fun anymore. I hope that “new boss” gets fired! He ruined the whole show. Nice to hear you are ok. You go girl!!!!!
Well….that is bizarre…the eye’s bleeding thing. I can’t imagine how I would react to that. You must have been stupified. Makes you wonder how one gets to be a boss. He should have opted for an eye test. Miss you terribly. I have loved GDLA for years. I only half watch when Jill is there. I can only think you were just meant to do something else and the good Lord had to find some idiotic reason for you to leave, because there is none that makes any sense. My best to you Dorothy…you are blessed.
New guy is an a#$@%&* !!! It has been horrible without your sunshine in the morning….Glad you are back, even in blogger form !!!
Congratulations on the new web site and blog. Mornings aren’t the same without you and your short skirts, Old ( new) boss will learn that he can’t speak for the public. When ratings tank you will have the last (raspy) laugh.
So he didn’t like the sound of your voice! His comment deserves to be heard infront of a judge! Your fans love your raspy voice and our love for you Steve and Jillian is what we thought would keep you guys around for a long time! I hope “mr you make my eyes bleed” is reading this and the zillions of oher posts wanting Dorothy back, “YOU make our hearts bleed!”. Love your website and I look foward to reading it every morning! I use to watch Fox News, but. Not anymore!
So good to see you doing this. I think your now ex, former “boss” is a very bad judge of character. You’re such a good soul. I look forward to reading this blog and seeing what you’re up to.
Hi Dorothy. Thank you for sharing with us what happen. I say “their lost”!! Better things will be coming your way. God will be opening new doors for you. Your an A
wesome person <3
Great to see your blog up & running. Glad your spirits seem up too.
So . . . new boss didn’t like your voice and it’s . . . OUT!!!?
Well, what about the thousands of us viewers who just LOVED your ( raspy, husky, Bacall-like) GREAT voice?
Funny, I thought it was what we viewers liked that counted. Me, I NEVER watched GDLA from the day you left. Nothing there, no zip, verve, panache, without lively / lovely D.L. New boss (fool) really blew it with his self-centered decision. He keeps making those kind of dumb-ass moves he’ll be out of work too. Without lasting 17 terrifiic years either.
Hope you land something really wonderful. Talent / charisma will out, and you certainly are blessed with loads of both.
Best to you and yours, BN
I think you’re GREAT. I’m so sorry about the’ jack wagon’ new boss. God has good things in store for you. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do.
Unfortunately it seems when new people take charge they think they have the answers to change the world and make it better without looking at the status quo and improving it from tthere. It is apparent from the cooments that the new person made he either has no people skills or he is just a complete ASS i go for the latter. unfortunately he will probably be around for a while as with most management will not admit they made a mistake and suffer the consqences of your departure unless viewer rating really drop off dramatically and are forced to bring you back.
That new boss is a total idiot. The show is… sigh… I just hate it now! It it wasn’t for Stevie I would DEFINITELY tune OUT.
Anyhoo – you are totally missed Dorothy!! I hope you do some VIDEO blogs cuz I miss your raspy voice & fun, quirky personality.
xoxo Much Luv.
Have to say I do Agree with all the above , you are LOVED and MISSED, Glad you are keeping us all in touch . But I would love to know this NEW bosses name…. Need to stick up for my girl! Haha
LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I’ve been on the edge of my seat (couch, rather) waiting for your blog; well worth the suspense! Completely entrhralled with the first blog topic. Ironic that the beginning of your blog tactfully slams the man who put you in the can??? I think not. Beautifully executed! Truth be told you are brilliant Dorothy! I hope he gouges his eyes out at the declining ratings and your on going success! Much love
Morning Dorothy, I am so elated to see your blog up and running. Gosh what an idiot your new boss was to say such a hurtful thing. Well I believe in Karma. You go girl and I wish you nothing but success. I watch GDLA only on the days Jillian is gone. (sorry) I guess I hold grudges because I will never forget how miserable she was to you in the beginning and to Steve as well. Even on the days that she’s not there it’s crazy and very nutso. Seems like there’s a new girl everyday or so. GDLA is not a priority any longer. I only watch sometimes because I LOVE Steve. Can’t wait to read your blog now so I won’t have to miss you so much anymore. You are missed and loved by many Dorothy.
PS: Hope you complete the 3rd item on your list, lol
Love & Peace
Bunny
Hey Dorothy, so happy that you decided to write this blog. I do really miss you in the morning. It just became a rutine in the morning for me to watch you guys as i get ready for work. It’s been that same rutine for so many years, as my kids have grown, as our address has changed, as I too have changed jobs. You guys were there with me. Now things are so different (even Jill is not there as often) I don’t have that same rutine anymore. Change is good though and I’m glad I can still “hear” you in some way. You have always been my favorite, especially since I am a political nut as well. Also because you always have such a positive attitude. There will always be people that are worse off than we are and we have to be gratefull for all the wonderfull things in our lives. Hope you write about some politics in your blog too. I’d love to get your perspective on some of the crazy things that go on in our country. Stay happy and be well.
Hey
Just wanted to say we all love ya here in Dallas and can’t wait to see what u do next!! Keep up with the blogginfg too!!
Agree with all of ther above. Was an avid fan of GDLA, but haven’t watched it since you left and they “cut back” on Jillian.
Im usually, if I do say so myself, far more eloquent than this… But… What an A**H***! Whoever made the good girl, bad girl, Switzerland comment couldn’t be more right.
However!!! I can tell already that unemployment is suiting you well, and your never out of work when you have a family to care for…. And with God in your heart, and on your side, He’ll never leave you empty handed.
And with that, I leave to go snuggle with my newborn baby girl…. And to ask for forgiveness for calling your former boss the A- word.
Hi Dorothy! You are a sight for sore eyes! So cute and fun! Miss you- but enjoy this new season of your life! (Turn turn turn) God bless thee!!!
He should have lost his job! What a idiot. He is making me sick to my stomache to think that he let you go , because he doesn’t know good talent when he see’s it. It’s okay Dorothy, God has a plan for you =) One door closes so another can open. God Bless YOU, you are an amazing woman. & I can’t watch GDLA anymore without you. There is NO more positive in the show =(
Hi Dorothy…miss you in the A.M.
Hmmm…new boss has taken his new position and himself waayyy to seriously and thinks he knows something that the GDLA viewers don’t..he’s completely out-of-touch with the GDLA audience.
We love you and support you…you’re a treasure and a rare find in your business.
Good to see you here and on FB…much love!
I had no idea how cruelly you’d been treated. I’m so sorry you had to endure that. Unfortunately, not surprising from the same person who laid off a 9 month pregnant mother. You are better off. I know you know that.
Just like on gdla daily. You have taken the high road. (integrity) Your true beauty emanates from within. Radiating God’s love through your successful Fun-lanthopic endeavors. Another little girl’s life is being changed forever thanks to you. (One of the thousands that you have aided.)

Wow, what a corker for an ending on the first blog. I don’t see how you go up from here, that’s nothing but great news. As an adopted child myself, I always tell people who poo-poo it, that “hey at least I KNOW I was wanted!” I’m so happy for you!
As for making your former bosses eyes bleed, tell him to go screw himself, you and Jillian were the best thing about that show. I watched almost every episode, and while your tangents did get to me once in a great while, I never felt anything but respect and admiration for you two. You are smart and funny and as lovely as the day is long. And while we probably wouldn’t see eye to eye on much in the real world, in the TV world you made my day, five days a week. And sometimes on a Saturday if I forgot to play the Friday episode in my DVR.
You need to be back on TV, you need to do more stuff like this and “The Young Turks”, but mostly you need some rest, because once your adoption goes through your days of wine and roses is over. Little secret, as an adopted kid myself, we KNOW we are wanted, so we push the envelope further than any pushed out kid ever would. Congrats and have fun! Great first blog posting!

Dorothy, I continue to tell my husband how much I miss watching you in the morning. I won’t mention names, but there is one person on the show now whose voice grates on my nerves. It is not Jillian, but I will leave it at that. I would read comments on the GDLA message board where people felt you needed to be gotten rid of. I never understood why they felt that way. The three of you (Steve, Jillian and of course you) made my mornings. The chemistry is now gone. How could someone say such a terrible thing like that to you? I want to send off a nasty email to whoever will read it at Fox. I cannot imagine the voice I sometimes hear on GDLA is not causing the new boss’s ears to bleed as well as his eyes. Also, why is it they could bring in three other females when they already had you to do the job? I am stunned and pissed off at what happened to you. I am glad you were honest about what happened. Thank you for taking the time ti blog and keep us informed of your life. God Bless.
Dorothy I knew you would be fine…. And even happier once the dust had settled…that show is such a train wreck,,, with the revolving door of people… I hate it…well I quit watching … As much as I love Steve… I dont think he can save it…I know things always change… But it’s like some evil force came in and broke up the family… Love your blog!!
Yay! You’re blog is up! It’s so good to hear from you. Finally I get to know what happened and why you’re not on my TV every morning. As you’ve heard, it’s not the same. What a stupid boss. The chemistry will never be good with anyone else and the two remaining. It just won’t . They will all try too hard, and be too blonde, and be two low-cut. Not a good look except when one is comfortable looking at that person. We were comfortable with you.
Anyway, I’ve followed you on Twitter this entire time (before and after). I know you have a full life and I know it’s all good as they say. I love your beach/ocean photo and would love to talk beach, blogs, and whatever with you some time. ( I know @traceycolorist too btw) xo Teri
Thank you for your honesty. I am no a true believer of God, but I respect you. I wish I did. I was most upset that you left. I saw a difference in the show before your departure, so bloody eyes must have had something to do with that. What a jerk. I am glad you can sleep in. I am in Malibu most weekends, just because I love the beach. I have often wondered what I would if I ever saw you. Anyhow good luck in all you do. I miss your explanations on politics, and how you could rip a new a……. To those who had differing opinions or was just plain dumb. I am not a blogger, I don’t know how. This is a new thing for me.
Take care
Ann
Girl, you are the shit…thats all I gotta say. The new boss is a dumb fuck to have messed up the trio. I do not watch GDLA since u left and Jill went off contract. You two made the show I dont care what anyone says. I have a strong belief that everything happens for a reason, and God has something better in store for you. You never made my eyes bleed, but made my ears ring with sweet nothings hehe…Cant wait to hear more about your life!
I never ever watched GDLA, and it wasn’t because of you, and it wasn’t because of Steve – two people who I actually like.
Fox11 fired the wrong chick.
Well, there’s always the KTLA Morning News to watch.
Hey Dorothy – there’s no managing other peoples deep seated issues, so I’m glad you have stirred and gotten on.
Personally, I must credit you (and GDLA) with giving me the greatest gift of my life.
On an October morning four years ago, you were on air petting the dog my husband Marcus Fant and I had picked from a picture on the net the morning before as part of your daily adoption feature.
We had already named him WeHo (yes, after our city and in honor of his mascot status for my newspaper, WeHo News),
We stood yelling at the tube, “stop petting our dog, Dorothy,” and “stop trying to give our WeHo away.”
With that catalyzing television moment, we found our way to the shelter and added him to our family.
He doesn’t fart (except in my presence, for some reason), but he’s a great dog anyway. He’s changed my life.
To see the clip of that show and the aftermath, go here… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FZZgjsUoOI&list=UU19pJHBRaE8MoDLLauUeoSw&index=20&feature=plcp
Dorothy,
I didn’t know about this until just now. I started a new job in May after splitting up with my fiancee (so I lost posession of the DVR so I can’t even record the show) and I’m in the office before 7 every morning so I had no idea you were gone.
Let me just say that 13 years ago when I moved here from West Virginia all alone and I turned on my TV in the am, the first thing I saw and heard was you. I have been a fan ever since. You’re beautiful inside and out and I personally love your voice…the rasp is sexy and I love it. Hopefully I will get to hear your voice again.
In Christ,
Jeff
Wow Dorothy! I don’t even know what to write here about this, but wanted to let you know you are missed by so many!! Love Steve, but it’s getting harder and harder to watch the show. And I have to admit I don’t watch it every morning anymore. I use to always start my day with GDLA … no more. :/
As for you “make his eyes bleed” ~ That’s what I don’t even know how to respond to. What an A#$#$%!
Dorothy,
I never suffered fools kindly and I must say the news director and the man in the front office are two of a kind — stupid fools who’ve brought down a solid news operation. Do you think they care that they’ve dropped out of the ratings? I spent five years there and Kevion Hale never once talked to me or said hello.
You did a great jon and Steve suffers greatly from your absence. Keep the faith. There’ll be better days again. Pete
I have only been living in LA for 10 years and I remember the 1st day I watched GDLA (and was hooked). I got my whole family (parents and sister) tuning in to watch on the internet. The show always started my morning. I would laugh, watch the proud mistakes, watch you and Jil mix it up and Steve try to keep the show moving. It was a PERFECT mix. Even the mornings that one of you were missing were not the same. The new boss ruined GDLA. It is a mess. Steve struggles to keep it going with all of these noobs trying to “try out” for your spot. Its hard to watch and I feel like something in my morning routine is gone. The ratings will reflect the new boss’s horrible mistake. Good luck to you, Dorothy! I watched your last show and almost cried myself. You are missed in so many people’s mornings.
So sorry this happened to you. I feel like i grew up w/ you guys. Every major event such as 9/11, tsunami, & elections I would tune in. You will be greatly missed. I was wondering where u were today and then googled you. I watched Jillians apology to u on youtube and although you were touched, I unfortunately felt it was insincere. I’m sure God has bigger plans for you…something bigger and better.

Dorothy,
I’m so glad to see that you’ve landed on your feet. It was clear that your gig on GDLA wasn’t a good fit. You would always show up for your report late. We, the viewers, would have to look at an empty chair for a few seconds, then the grand entrance of you. Then, you’d always wince at doing your job (entertainment reporting / gossiping) and comment on how uncomfortable you were with reporting about your celebrity friends / neighbors. You would skip a story because you felt icky talking about the smut you were hired to report on. You often had pregnated pauses, while the camera lingered on you not saying anything. You talked incessantly about Nash and your being a Christian. These are just the facts that I witnessed as I toggled from Fox to NBC every morning. If someone doesn’t like their job, they should quit. I don’t think you would’ve ever quit, so Fox did the much-necessary honors. Now, you don’t have to endure your previous Fox tasks. Now you can do all of those things on your new blog! You see, everything does work out the way it’s supposed to.
Yes, she always seemed rather displeased with her job there and didn’t hide it very well. If some of us noticed, it probably wasn’t too difficult for new management to figure it out. To be honest, her departure didn’t surprise me.
I’m in the broadcast biz too and I’ve seen a few GDLA’s and the national show too when it was on. I’ll reserve comment on who I like and didn’t but will say I did like you on the show and for that ND to say what he said shows his lack of respect, professionalism and decency. Honestly, not surprised since I’ve seen enough News Directors, Radio PD’s, and GM’s who are as much of a F______ A_____ as he was. Some of them far worse! You’re right to leave it to God…he’ll take care of those who did you wrong! Keep on what you’re doing! It will work out!
WOW! I work up in Seattle at KOMO, I used to work with Gina Silva at KNXV. I have seen you on the air once or twice, and you didn’t even give me gas, let alone make my bleed.
Your (former) ND sounds like not just a nasty human being, but an outright asshole. I do believe your story as I have seen one or two examples and heard of dozens more.
Wish you luck, and hope you finish your 3 goals for the day…

[...] should all be so lucky as to get the kind of attention Dorothy Lucey has with her first blog item. Her recollection of a Good Day LA exec’s harsh personal put-down was quickly picked up last [...]
I think letting you go was the BEST thing for you. Always felt you were being held back from expressing newsworthy views. You are politically aware (even if I disagree w/ you 90% of the time) yet I always felt the blue suits didn’t want you to show your ‘smarts’. I say the same for Steve. I miss hearing him on radio as he he is obviously being held back from fully expressing/debating newsworthy topics.
.
The past 18 months, GDLA has become like a premature ejaculator. Plenty of prep but provoides little satisfaction. As I have since your days at KCBS, I will continue to support whatever you do. A pretty gal on TV with smarts – they don’t come around too often. Fox blew it (what else is new).
For those of you out there wondering, the new boss who told Dorothy that she made his “eyes bleed” is Kingsley Smith. He is still new to L.A. He came from Philadelphia. This is the same city that fostered the mentality that led to over 60,000 Philadelphians booing of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Kindergarten aged children and…(wait for this)…(wait for this)…THE POPE!!! You can vent to Mr. Smith at Kingsley.Smith@FOXTV.com. Remember the point between his first and last name when E-Mailing him. City of Brotherly Love my ass!!!
Andre
I was waiting for someone to list his name and email.
Mission accomplished, Dorothy…that didn’t take long at all, did it??
Now your “fans” can take it from here.
I miss you so much on GDLA. For years that was my morning show. But now it feels like something is missing. Like you. Miss you lots. Hope you can return to tv soon. Voice and all!
I hadn’t watched the show online from London (UK) for a while. When I discovered you were gone I had to find out why….
There’s a universal saying ” If it ain’t broke……..” well we have a morning TV breakfast show over here which has had poor ratings for a few years now. They got rid of the last 2 anchors and put in 2 temporaray ones while they revamped the programme and hired new anchors. What they didn’t realise is that whilst they were busy doing that the stand in presenters were actually growing on the audience and the ratings were beginning to improve. Now they’ve relaunched the show and….it’s bombed! “If it ain’t broke……”
Good luck in what you do and laugh each day.
R
You deserve so much better than that. I’d been watching GDLA since ’97, and I miss what it used to be. Good luck with whatever you are working on. I’m looking forward to reading more.
Dorothy
Hi Dorothy,
I loved reading your blog and your website. It’s nice to finally know exactly what happened at GDLA. I new it wasn’t what all the rumors were saying it was. Now that I know for sure shame on that new boss. He just sucks. He ruined a lot of people’s mornings. Some of us have been watching you three for over 17yrs every morning. My son is the same age as Nash (about a month older) and GDLA was so fun to watch that he watched it every morning too while eating his breakfast. Hell he couldn’t get iaway from it because you could hear it no matter where you were in the house. So it has been a part of his entire life and now it’s over. They can call it anything they want but it’s not GDLA anymore….it’s just the morning news that I watch now. I won’t mention any names but there’s one or two people on three times a day everyday reporting news that I can’t stand listening to. Well I guess God has a new path he wants you on now, so enjoy it and enjoy what’s left of Nash’s childhood because he is already 14 like my son. Thanks for making my days better. Cherie
PS
please excuse my typo “new” is suppose to be “knew”….you should make it so these comments can be edited by the writer. It is hard to see what we are typing until we finish and then we can’t make corrections.
Hey Dorothy- we knew each other way back in the day at WABC. Yes, it makes my eyes bleed when I think about how long ago that was. I always remember you as being charming, personable and gorgeous (you can pick any two). Sorry to hear about your job ouster but of course that’s how it goes sometimes in this business. I know you’ll land on your feet!
Steve
P.S. I hope by now your husband is finally off your “to-do” list..
Sorry about your job loss, but I really don’t miss you.
And replacing only 1 out of 3 isn’t going to help GDLA’s ratings…
Yo lucey I saw you on JVM And was happy to see you again. I then became nosy And googled your name.I was suprised to see you were the one who was canned. Well I will buy that can k. Wish you all the love and give you much respect girl. You are very popular and fox messed up. To bad for them great for us. I m lookiing forward with you girl!!!

So sad that u r gone. I can’t stand Jilian but watched the show cause u put her in her place. Not fun to watch anymore.
So sad that u r gone. I can’t stand Jilian but watched the show cause u put her in her place. Not fun to watch anymore.
Wow…if that unprofessional imbecile was still your boss at the time he told you that you “made his eyes bleed”, he could be in big trouble and his comment could cost Fox some pennies…
I wonder if he was ever given the harassment training required of any supervisor working in any company with over 50 employees? Because darling, that language is downright abusive….
Abuse of power is nothing new of course, but we don’t have to accept it or tolerate it. I would love for this to be your new cause. Working women (and men) everywhere are subject to abusive bosses and their complaints go unheard/unheeded. You however have a voice – a big beautiful one. You could really do some damage to that abusive ex-boss’s career as well as to the career of any abusive boss that you decide to expose…
I am right behind you, supporting you in whatever you decide to do next. But secretly, I hope it’s caused based and I hope it’s something that will help to make this type of verbal abuse in the workplace definitely not OK.
Dorothy,
So sorry that happened to you, but glad you shared. If you can successfully shine on LA morning TV for that many years and then encounter that– well it is a good reminder how subjective this business is.
Best to you in your next endeavors.
Olivia Fierro (your former News Asst)
love you and love your blog! I never watch the show now…he really messed up a great shiow. Someone should fire him.
Hi,
Just wanted to say Iwatched your last show and that was the last time I watched GDLA. Glad you have a blog. I also love to watch your husbands reports. I cannot believe that someone would tell you that you make his eyes bleed. Besides being unprofessional it is down right cruel!. But always remember what comes around goes around. I am curious what there ratings are now. You have so much to offer it truly is their loss.
Rhonda
Apparently, Kingsley Smith knows what it means to make your eyes bleed. Here’s a story about his skills in steering his former station into an iceberg. Nice job, asshole. BTW, Studio 11 LA sucks too. I’m sure Swanson is keeping a close eye on your contract end date… Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPpzMrnWPD0
Miss you lots, Ms Dorothy-I do not watch GDLA anymore, it’s just not the same without you! I can’t believe you’re not on the air for the elections, I always looked forward to your commentary!
I am really enjoying the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems? A few of my blog readers have complained about my blog not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any ideas to help fix this issue?
Liking the recent changes you’ve made mate!!
Hi Dorothy! I’m so enjoying reading your blog. I knew you’d come up with ‘sumpin’ good! I use to look forward to GDLA every morning because I knew you guys would make me laugh, yell at the TV, drool over the food segments and wait for your juicy take on entertainment. Not to mention those fine clothes you wore each day – you looked hot each and every day! I miss that and no one can replace what you brought to the show! Your new life looks far more exciting and you sound happy. All the best to you, you deserve it! (As fo that ex-boss, I read that incompetence and low ratings follow him – ‘so for gedda bout him’!!
I’ll be a regular visitor, so carry on. . . .
I wouldn’t be surprised if that manager was an atheist with a secret agenda to bounce you out for having the nerve to believe in GOD and acknowledge His name every chance you get on air.
Atheist have now began a war against Believers. Their aim is to destroy us any way they can. (not knowing they are doing satan’s work)
But Our Lord will give you something sweet for your pain.
This manager will receive judgment from GOD in this realm and in the next realm at
the Great White Throne of Judgment OR….
GOD will put GDLA out of business! (I’ve seen this happen many times)
TOUCH NOT MY ANOINTED!
Be Blessed Dorothy…
Omg!!! Im in shock a human beingsaid that to u!! Gdla is not the same!!
Dorothy,
I am so glad you are still allowing us to hear your voice! Every morning (for many years), I listened to you. I once changed cable carriers, because I had to have GDLA. When you left, that all changed. I don’t record the show anymore. I cannot say much more about that, because I cannot think of a nice thing to say concerning the show.
Thank you for the wonderful, crazy mornings! Your voice is as beautiful as your <3
The new boss is a congenital moron. What a blithering idiot!!!!!!!!! On what planet, under what rock did he crawl out from. He’s the one who should be fired. The public knows how unique, sexy, and interesting you are to watch.; and the only morning TV person worth having coffee with. Sheeeeeeesh…….
Don’t worry…Dorothy will survive. She was making a million a year on GDLA and lives in a multi-million dollar mansion in Malibu (google it and take a look at that house!)
Not begrudging her at all…but you don’t really need to feel sorry for her. For the rest of us, getting fired is a much more devastating proposition…we don’t have a fat salary history and big house with an ocean view to fall back on.
dear dorthy, very mistreated by hollywood and a { no class new boss } you were great on gdla always looked foward to seeing you , you can do anything you want to, you dont need fox or gdla . steve is a nice man, but good ridence to bad trash with that super fake jillian renolds, why they kept her is a mystery , i tuned in to see you! every day . jillian made me change the chanel. { i can not stand her bull sh**/ nonsense } and who wants to work for bastards that would disrespect you to your face like that. if i was your husbund that new boss would have a broken jaw. what an a** hole. even though you were there for many years that place was a stepping stone for you ,you have out grown the silly little show the stupid jillian and the weak shallow back stabbers you used to work for. keep on skipping ,keep on laughing, keep on danceing, keep on loveing. god has the rest of your wonderful life for you. peace and love tommy nowlin
Wow, I can’t believe that happened. You were the best part of that show. Hope great things happen for you.
What is the boss’s name? Shirley you can divulge that or tell us who we can write to, and don’t call me Shirley.
Awesome writing style!
Dorothy,
The mornings aren’t the same without you on the screen to start my day.
You are warm and funny and beautiful and you are sorely sorely missed.
Wow… It was very rare not to see all of you 3 back together for few weeks… my wife was supper sad when she found out that you were not longer with the cast… now we do not see much of Jillian is funny how we get so used to see all of you every day in our regular routine and suddenly not… my wife and I we hope very dearly for you to have a bless and better tomorrow … which we know that would be brighter then the sun that lights our days ….
thank you for all

That is just about the most hurtful thing I’ve ever heard anyone say to another. I hope he did not say that to your face. I dont know you, but I watched you on TV for years and I enjoyed your voice! I could tell you were a caring and loving person and that is what made me want to watch. On the other hand there are people at the station that I cannot stand and whose voice and dumb comments make me want to vomit. Where’s your ex boss so I can tell him?
Dear Dorothy:
I had always thought of you, Jillian and Steve as the three muskateers. Every day brought something new. All three of you made the morning show so enjoyable. Now it seems that Jean Martirez is gone as the co-anchor with Tony McEwing. All of this is so disappointing. There is so much upheaval in the world and we viewers were so glad to see stability on Channel 11. We were comforted in seeing you, Jillian and Steve (and Jean too) every morning. Who destroyed all of this??? I know that you suffer but we viewers are sufferning too. I have moved on the watching Channel 5.
This was such a diservice to all fans of the morning show. No hint of you leaving , none at all. We will miss your sweet smile, eyes n all…Why didn’t steve or the show say anything??? Nor did they have the balls to back you up???? Sorry for my candor.. but i think there are LOTS of people like me that share this opinion. Hon I DO wish you the best in life with your career your family… DONT LET THE BASTARDS get you down.. ..
forwards!!!!… al
Dorthy I miss your fantastic humor and I miss jean too. why don’t you two start something on air cause we miss you two sooooooooo much. what jerks and very bad businessmen those exec’s are at fox are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do they even have a clue what a mess they have made??????????? Love ya
Hi Dorothy, I always watched GDLA almost everyday and the three of you was something to look forward to watching. When I tuned in after a long time, I noticed that both you and Jillian were gone. I stopped watching, they even fired Jean Martirez, she is one funny lady…I could not bring myself to watch the show anymore after you guys are not there anymore, now more especially that you said that he fired you because of your “voice”…i think this injustice is going around like what the Today Show did with Ann Curry. Well, at least I have the Ellen Show & The View…i love hosts who are real….and that’s you, Dorothy you are so real and you made news fun….thanks for the many years you entertained and informed me. God bless you with so much success in your future plans.
Ella
I like the GDLA program now you are gone. I think your blog does not reflect you as the “good” girl you think you are. You cuss and say things that I just think are pathetic. ARE YOU TRYING TO STAY RELEVANT? YOU ACT LIKE YOU THINK YOU ARE SIXTEEN. You reported gossip. I’m finally tuning back into GDLA because I just realized you are gone- PEMANENTLY! Thank goodness. Steve was the only decent one- and we just got tired of the smut of you and the other one. I think the current reporter is much, much better.
Just googled to see if it is permanent and it is– SO YAY AMERICA I GET TO TUNE IN TO SEE STEVE EDWARDS WITHOUT THE CRAP! IT’S ONLY FEBRUARY 2013- BUT GOES TO SHOW WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE CRAP YOU TURN IT OFF FOR GOOD. Can’t believe I noticed over time you and the other gross girl were gone. Yay! Yay! Yay!
Dear Shiksa Goddess. You have the quality of openness and honesty, so rare these days. We miss you enough to switch stations. PBS in the morning lets me accomplish tasks while listening. Always felt you are high class even if our politics did not always mesh. I still follow you, but not the stalking kind.
Love
Zayde
Hi Dorothy,
You have a wonderful charismatic personality that will be greatly missed on Fox. Professionally speaking your delivery wasn’t just reading a prompter by any means, your enthusiasm while sharing a story was captivating bringing life to the entire show, and class as my mom would say.
I normally do not write to people in the industry but I felt compelled to share my thoughts with you along with my support, and encouragement. “The Best is Yet To Come” I believe there is a reason for everything, sometimes God closes one door but we have to wait in the hallway, hey I’d rather wait in any hallway than work for someone that is abusive, rude, disrespectful, unprofessional, and if it’s Kevin Hale that “ASS” excuse me but he is a walking joke in the business.
You will prevail Ms Dorothy better than ever, with a smile on your beautiful face and a song in your heart! To be honest your to good for that show, and far too good to be treated with such disrespect…just be glad your not married to the ASS! OOPS…Excuse me. Don’t forget it’s not about what you do it’s who you are that matters in life, and you seem to be a genuine person with a big heart. Am I right…thought so! Enjoy the here & now, embrace today for it shall be gone tomorrow.
FYI I didn’t watch Fox Morning News often due to my schedule but I do know one thing since you’re no longer their the whole vibe is different, not good, ratings are low too. This Mr.” I wanna play God” on the firing squad will be in the line of fire soon at the rate things are going, But I don’t even want to waste my time thinking about him, he’s not worth it, but understandably so I would struggle with being angry, hurt, sad etc…positive thoughts will heal the negative, take a deep breath in “Positive In” Exhale ” Negative Out” well I feel better..
Sorry I had no idea I was going to be writing my first Novel, chatty Cathy here, I hope I helped Dorothy, my prayers are with you, and your family. Enjoy your time together. I’ll be watching for you on TV!
God Bless You All!
Sincerely,
Sheri Lynn

Yay! I am so happy that you are doing this. Thank you for sharing what happened. I was working a lot and didn’t get to watch the show, so one day i tuned in and you were gone……… I asked on Steve’s FB “What happened”? that’s how i found out you were gone. So sorry for you , you are such a sweetheart and didn’t deserve such treatment.
Really wishing you well, and look forward to reading your posts. Very glad to hear that you are happy, keep your chin up!
