I think I just gave birth to an 11 year old. It’s OK she’s small.
I was on my way to LAX at midnight to get this little angel (they say she’s from El Salvador, but I think she is from Heaven). And I get a flat tire. So my angel’s first stop in the US was a gas station. As I’m driving (can a car limp?) I was having the usual anxiety you have when you do something crazy. I was asking God if this was a good idea. He answered with fireworks. This is not a metaphor. Someone on PCH was shooting off fireworks. 4th of July in September or what I call a God shot.
Sandra will live with me while she recovers from surgery.
I am her host Mommy for a few months (although they may have to remind me to give her back). My family (especially the farting dog ) already adores her. We think she is quite perfect but her fingers are fused and surgery will separate them. She is here with a charity you have heard me mention called Mending Kids International.
Since my Spanish (what is the Spanish word for sucks?) no esta bien this maybe tricky. I have to somehow explain to her that I’m dragging her to a TV station. I am going to be on HLN with my good friend Jane Velez-Mitchell. Jane wants me to talk about Honey Boo Boo (which i have hardly seen) and parenting ( my son said not to mention him). So this could be tricky too.
But first I have to take a shower. You know it’s hard for new Mom’s to get a shower.
Then let the fireworks begin.
You look gorgeous – you don’t need make-up, lights and fancy hair styles – your inner beauty shines and here you are just glowing with pride and love – And Sandra knows it – just look at that smile. She’s in for a great time and will go home (sorry) with amazing memories and a lot of your love and spirit in her heart.
And I don’t know how you can go from sweet Sandra to ridiculous Honey Boo Boo without “bleeding eyes”!
Awww You two sweeties have fun in SoCal maybe a El Salvadoran restaurant will make that sweetie feel at home. And then go shopping for jeans!!!
Im so proud of u dotty! Still mIss u on GDLA! Anyway she is sooooi gorgeous! I do hair in woodland hills on Ventura blvd. would love to treat her for free haircut & blowdry! You are such a great woman. God bless you! Enjoy your time with her.

Fantastic! Looking forward to hearing of your (and Sandra’s!) experiences while she’s here! (PS I got into a pickle last week when I forgot all my French when I was trying to help some people, and realized later that “there’s probably an app for that!” Hope you guys can communicate OK!)

What a blessing you and your family are to little Sandra, I am sure she is beyond grateful to be with you. I will be praying for the surgeons and for the surgery to go smoothly. Also, I miss seeing your face on GDLA. The show is not the same without you, I rarely watch anymore.

I am sure God has wonderful plans for her fingers! Maybe a concert pianist or guitarist or both! Or a violin teacher! Or an artist! Whatever His plan I pray that he will give the doctors wisdom and guide their hands as they perform this surgery! I’m proud of you Dorothy! For having such a heart to help this fchild! What a blessing you are to her family!

I am so happy I looked at your website. I wondered what you were doing…and how you were doing…since you left the morning show on Fox. It looks as though you have been reborn. You can see it in your face..especially in your eyes. You are doing God’s work now Dorothy and you have my admiration and respect. Don’t stop.

God has a plan for you and it was not GDLA. The path was for you to open your home and heart to this sweet little girl. You are kind, funny and have such a loving heart! Keep your smiling face facing the heavens and you will never go wrong.

Dorothy, you are an angel. I love what you are doing for this child. Bless you. I always believe those of us who can help others, are receiving the best reward in our hearts. I don’t believe we will get our reward in Heaven. I believe God has already rewarded many of us and this is why we should express our love and thanks to Him by sharing what we have with those less fortunate.
