A girl walks into a bar.
Actually it was a restaurant.
Actually a restaurant with a bar.
Point being…
I was a little tardy to a party.
And I get a text from my husband.
Steve is here.
Steve who?
I’m not being rude.
I’d never expect Steve Edwards to be at a party.
Or anywhere.
He’s a hermit.
Except for TV.
But the silver fox was there.
Last time I saw him was at a funeral.
So this was better.
And I got to see his better half.
I do love Mrs. Edwards.
Steve said let’s do lunch in the next 10 years.
Actually he didn’t say do lunch.
Only girls say that.
I said…let’s try for 5.
We laughed.
Sometimes it’s funny (peculiar) to run into people I used to work with.
They don’t know what to say.
I didn’t die.
My career did.
And I’m OK with that.
Even some good friends unfriended me as I walked out the door.
People think losing your job is contagious.
It’s not.
And it has it’s perks.
I’ve been on 4 medical missions with Mending Kids.
I’ve been to Central America, Africa & Asia.
A year ago I was in Cambodia.
I got a blow dry (blow dry people, as in hair)) for 5$.
A massage for 10$.
And I got to witness a few miracles.
On each mission I like to play with our small patients.
And make sure our doctors have toilet paper and M&Ms
I’m heading back to Central America.
Going to El Salvador to find my heart.
My girl.
Once upon a time… I started this blog to write about Sandra.
My daughter.
My temporality daughter.
But it feels more permanent in my heart.
She was brought here by Mending Kids for surgery.
The Mending Kids motto is hope, love, mend.
We did all three.
She lived with my family for four months.
She is part of our family.
And she has suffered a great tragedy in her family.
She lost her mother.
That’s a hole in the heart surgery can’t mend.
I’m trying to get her here for a visit.
If she can’t come here…I’ll go there.
To give her a hug.
And all my love.
I pray for her every day.
No matter where I am…
I was just reading comments from my last blog.
Anita said she prays in the potty.
Anita, I’m with you.
I pray toilet paper adjacent too.
When I’m on a mission I pray I brought enough toilet paper for us all.
But, point being…
God is everywhere.
Even there…in the potty.
Even in a restaurant.
Or a bar.
Or in the potty of a restaurant with a bar…
awww….no pics
God is Good
Oh, Dorothy, follow your heart…trailing toilet paper all the way to El Salvador and to your beloved Sandra. Scoop her up and give her a big squeeze (and a handful of M & M’s)for all of us who were blessed to spend a little time with her. She’s a lucky girl to have you as her second mommy.
Lunch with the silver fox can wait another. day.
Dear Dorothy
Our lifves are like travel on the train, the train of life. The train stops at all the stations/stops. Some passengers get off some get on. As we travel through life, this is exactly what happens, some people
leave us at the station stops. None of this has to do with us (you) it is their journey. At the end of the journey some will have stayed with us through out our life’s journey. You are a
Blessing Ito,so many people.
Your little “daughter” Sandra will be one who will be on your train until the end.
May God continue to bless you and your family as you continue your life’s journey.
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
Sincerely
Vickie Sharma
That’s lovely.
Thank you.

My heart broke Dorothy when you said little Sandra lost her mother. I know that the love you have shown her, will help that dear little girl’s broken heart mend. You always carry the love with you, near or far away, and i know there is no doubt you have made a life long difference in that little girls life that she will take with her on her journey as she grows. I hope you get to wrap your arms around her soon. Have the merriest of holidays with your family and friends. Take care, and don’t worry about those people who have shut you out of their lives. Without a doubt they weren’t worth your friendship if that’s the way they have treated you. They are the ones who are losing out. This is potty praying Anita, signing off…LOL..
Thank You foe sharing ! Miss seeing you and hearing you laugh…
OMG no — when did this happen? ( Sandra’s mother )
Allow me to shout out to my BFF who mends kids but mends adults also..
She and David and Nash have been mending my son, my daughter and myself for thee past three years since my husband died. and I am so grateful.
Some people are meant to put good out in the world – that’s my BFF’s mission and she has always done this, the right thing..the right path, she lights our way out of the darkness..

And more thing on the subject of career – I was starting to think I was making a career out of being fired,,,
and yet this year I’m back up in the 1 % bracket of what women make (did u know that less than 1 % of women around the world own property)
… but very few women or men make a difference and you do…
at the end of the day its the good u do that gets u through… xo
