I have…
I had…
A beautiful friend.
She was like sunshine.
A California girl.
By way of Oklahoma.
A kind girl.
The kind of girl who would pray for you.
Or grab your ass.
And tell you how good it looked.
Whatever you needed.
Blonde.
Beautiful.
Spiritual.
Mother of three.
Died suddenly.
Incomprehensible,
Family inconsolable.
Friends inconsolable.
Not sure how I’m writing this because I don’t have the words.
None of us know what to do.
I go to the beach because that was her place.
Always in a bikini.
Mom of three.
With a flat tummy.
Still I loved her.
Always making cookies for the kids.
I ate them.
She kept that flat tummy.
Still I loved her.
Always giving love advise.
Telling me (explicitly) how to keep my husband happy.
Her husband was happy.
They had that rare thing called a happy marriage.
We were all going to be together New Years Eve.
At Brooke Burke’s beautiful home.
We were there four days later.
Mourning her.
I have lost three friends in two years.
Three beautiful Malibu moms gone.
Seven kids without their mommy.
In my last blog I told you about Sandra’s tragedy.
My beautiful Mending Kid from El Salvador.
Sandra lost her Mom.
She’s a little less giggly.
A little more grown up.
With Sandra and her sister, that’s nine kids without their Mom.
Life is hard.
So be soft.
We will all love Kelli’s kids.
We will make them meals.
But no one can make cookies like Kelli.
A bunch of us took a bunch of roses to her favorite beach.
I see her there.
In a bikini.
Wearing a cowboy hat.
Sipping a Coors Light.
I feel her there.
My California girl.
By way of Tulsa.
She was…
She is…
Like human sunshine.
I will think of her every sunset.

The worst part is feeling helpless. Thank you for giving me away to help.
I do have many Kelli stories to share.
And so sorry for your loss.

This is so lovely! Thank you for writhing it. You described her perfectly. I can’t even begin to imagine what the family is going through. As friends, we are walking around in a daze, so numb and confused. Our hearts aching for such a loss of a true angel! She often spoke of Archangel Michael and protection, she must be in heaven looking down and feeling all the love we all have for her. I know she will guide her children throughout their lives with her ever present energy. We love you Kelli Longo and will miss you terribly. You’ll never be forgotten!
We often walked & talked of angels.
And meditation.
And kids.
And sex.
With that cute cowboy hat…
She just made my heart happier.
Such a loss.
Our beautiful, fun, nutty Kelli.

Heartfelt condolances to you and your friends, Dorothy….it is hard to find the words….you found them.
Dear Dorothy
I am so sorry for your loss and the loss of a wonderful mother to her children. It is so difficult to understand
the why of theses deaths. I have also lost several people (all to young) in the past couple of years. Why, I
Ask but I guess it is not for any of us to know.
I pray for peace to be with you, yours, her family and everyone who knew her
So very sorry Dorothy to hear of the loss of your dear friend. I always look forward to seeing your blogs, because i know i’m definitely going to get a giggle out of them, but not this time. This time, it broke a little piece of my heart. My mind automatically goes to her children. My heart breaks for their loss. Thank you for sharing with us, and giving us who didn’t know Kelli, a glimpse of the wonderful person, friend and mom she was.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom at a young age. I wish her friends had stayed in touch … kept her memory alive. Told me stories… I’d love to hear about the woman she was to them, the friend, the advice giver, the way she cooked … whatever … I’d love to know those stories now that I’m a woman. Stay in touch, tell those stories …. don’t be afraid it will make them sad. Tell them over and over.
