You know I love my wine.
I’m saving the world one glass of wine at a time.
Right?
But gratitude can take me away faster than rose’.
When I’m grateful.
I’m high.
I’d have to imbibe a lot of wine for that.
Helping people is my drug of choice.
Wine is a close second.
Gratitude is third.
This morning I was sad about the killing of Kayla Mueller.
She was trying to save the world.
She was 26 years old.
I prayed.
Then asked God to take my negative crap away.
Now I’m sitting at my desk…
Drinking Oolong Tea.
My sister calls it the happy, skinny tea.
It helps metabolize fat.
How great is that?
It’s my 4th drug of choice.
I’m sipping…
And thinking…
I’m blessed.
I loved morning TV.
But I love not rushing out the door at 4am.
I love watching my husband on TV.
I love watching my son surf.
I love…
As you can see…
Making lists of what I love.
Like laughter.
I laughed at least half my ass off with Sam Rubin last week.
We hosted the Movie Awards for GrownUps.
We’re grownups?
Sam and I did a talk show together years ago.
He hasn’t changed.
He’s happier than Pharrell.
He almost fell off the platform while we were interviewing Kevin Costner.
Kevin was like…whoa Sammy.
Sam’s a see horse shit, look for a pony kind of guy.
And that’s good.
I met some good (and a few nutty) people at the Conscience Life Expo.
I do a podcast about charity.
Well sometimes it’s about other crap.
But mostly about charity.
We did the podcast from the Expo.
We talked to a psychic named Joanna Garzilli.
She said you get what you ask for.
If you ask…
with a pure heart.
None of my organs are pure (note the before mentioned wine).
But I think she means…
Don’t pray & say “what have you done for me lately?”
There’s a scripture that says
“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart”.
I delight in God.
And I delight in writing.
It’s the desire of my heart.
The psychic said I would write a big book
Does big mean long or successful?
Either is OK.
I’m grateful for what she said.
I’m grateful my negative morning has turned into this blog.
I’m getting high on happy thoughts.
And that comes from a wino…
Excellent post Dorothy as we all … I know I do … need that nudge to remember to be grateful, keeping the sadness at bay and rejoicing in the day we are given….cheers!…:)
Good morning Dorothy: You never cease to make me giggle when reading your blog. I enjoy watching the news but lately all it does is make me want to cry. One bad story after another. Just when you think you’ve heard the worst another horrible tragedy comes along. My heart hurts for what this world is becoming. So much sadness and death. I worked with my husband a few weeks ago and this young couple had a daughter, who is 4 who has a form of ALS for children. Talk about rip your heart out. Her name is Riley. Anyway, in talking to the parents we learned they also have another daugther, Baily, who is younger and weaker and who also has this horrendous disease. It takes everything for me not to burst out crying when we are at their house. So when i get down, or start to feel negative about some trivial thing, that at the time seems important to me, i tell myself now: Think of Riley..and it puts everything into perspective. Just what that family has to go through on a daily basis shocks me right back into reality and makes me take notice of how lucky I am and we all are, and to not take anything for granted in this life. Whatever it takes, whether it be sipping on a nice glass of wine, or watching your children, or just breathing in the fresh air on a glorious day and taking in the beauty all around us , we all need to just be grateful for every second we are here. Cheers Dorothy
Yes!
Thank you.

From one proud wino to another; I’m grateful for your writing. Best of wishes & the biggest of cheers!
I was never a wino. I decided to save the world in the army airborne. Not easy for at 17 in 1969. Got station near Heidelberg, DDR. Remembered reading somewhere that since 400ad, early Romans preferred the wines from the Mosel river valley. Made for some great weekends alone with Hesse.
Ooops!…had to go beefore I could edit/re-edit
So many minutes and things and all
That a minute can reverse
And so I used to drink some mighty fine wine
There was nothing quite like beeing 20ish
And living in der nehe von Weinheim, Germany
With so many lit-up castles turned fine restaurants
German wines had a rating system I used to understand
A chicken stamp on the bottle
(Maybee an eagle but it looked like a chicken to me
There was nothing better than watching Hermann Prey
And Anna singing their hearts out as in Tannhauser
Except good food and wine and celebrating
The full moon in the foothills around Ladenberg
(Die Odenwald)
Happy Valentines Day.
PS: Can’t wait for your “big book”!
I’ll bee so grateful
Thank you! I plan to visit Germany this Summer!
