I gained 3 pounds on Spring Break.
Three pounds of Margaritas.
In four days.
I quit drinking for two months.
But when in Cabo…
We stayed at an all inclusive hotel.
So when they ask if you want a drink…
I think it’s incumbent on you to say OK.
The drunken college kids in Cabo brought back vague memories of Spring Break past.
Wet tee-shirt contests I was too flat to enter.
That time we all got kicked out of a hotel in Fort Lauderdale because some boys (we knew & may have dated) tossed a mailbox into a hotel pool.
I’m not really a travel blogger.
But I may as well tell you…
In Cabo we stayed at a place called Breathless.
With a name like that…
It better be good.
It was.
And El Farallon is breathtaking.
Oceanfront doesn’t describe this restaurant.
You’re almost in the ocean.
Waves crashing so close we got soaked.
Real pacific in the Pacifico.
Made the Margaritas even saltier.
But now I’m back
Back to my Margarita free diet.
And trying not to eat sugar.
I lost eight pounds before I went.
But a Margarita can have 500 calories.
Even the skinny ones aren’t that skinny.
Now I’m eating skinny candy.
That Atkins candy.
Those fake M & M’s aren’t bad.
I’m not really a beauty blogger…
But cutting down on alcohol and sugar has been good for my skin.
That and those products I blogged about (links in last blog).
Love Youth Blast (ageintervention.me)
and Bobi Leonard Stem Cells (bobileonard.com)
Someone asked me if I had a time machine.
No.
But I have Stem Cells and photoshop.
And I act immature.
Over Spring Break I rode too many rollercoasters…
And went to MB2.
I suck at go karting.
The twins from Africa passed me three times.
And they’ve never driven anything before.
Unless you count that golf cart they almost drove into a pool.
After that…
They never drove anything again.
Until MB2.
They passed me fast.
Then crashed.
Good thing you can’t get hurt there.
The twins came back for a visit.
They came back for a TV show.
That’s all I can say.
Except the show isn’t about me.
And it is going to be great.
They first came here two years ago.
Twins.
With different faces.
But similar hands.
Their hands did not look like hands.
So misshapen.
One of them had two thumbs.
They were shining shoes on streets of Ethiopia.
One step above begging.
They were outside the Mother Teresa Home for the Destitute and Dying.
I’ve been there.
It’s not an easy place to describe.
An American doctor saw them.
Dr Rick Hodes hoped Mending Kids could help.
We did.
We brought the two boys here for surgery two years ago.
They had casts on both hands.
Imagine using the bathroom.
My friend Brooke Bohm was their host Mom.
Imagine her helping them use the bathroom.
She has 3 kids (2 dogs, a cat and a pig).
One of her kids also had a cast.
So she had 5 kids with 5 casts.
All eventually mended nicely.
The twins were here healing for four months.
This time they came for four weeks.
Two of those weeks were during Spring Break.
The teens took them to see 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Probably scaring them for life.
They went to the beach with a movie star.
Mel Gibson knows the twins and has been a big supporter of Mending Kids.
And we did every ride at Disneyland.
Twice.
All of LA is Disneyland to them.
They were sad to go…
We were sad to see them go.
I’ll miss my Ehtiopian entourage.
Brooke sent them home with clothes, dyed purple hair and high hopes for their future.
It was a Spring Break filled with laughter, love, loud boys…
And too many Margaritas.
Love you.
And all you do.
They had such a lovely day with you.
