okLA POD PEOPLE STEVE & JILLIAN
Got my roots done.
I’m a little more blonde.
And a little less gray.
I was in the hair chair next to Kyle MacLaughlan.
His gray looks way better than mine
But this blog is actually about a gray whale.
I was lucky enough to see one the other day.
I was by the beach.
And I was on the phone.
I was annoyed with the other person on the phone.
I like to think I’m someone who doesn’t get that annoyed.
I maybe mistaken.
Reading A Course in Miracles has helped.
My favorite lesson says you can have a grievance…or a miracle.
Not both.
I’ve been repeating this to anyone who will listen.
I should have listened.
While arguing on the phone I barely noticed the whale.
It’s hard to miss.
I mean…it’s a whale.
So I had my grievance,
But I kind of missed my miracle
How could the new and (somewhat) evolved me pick arguing over a National Geographic moment.
It happened again this morning.
I’m in traffic.
On my way to do our podcast.
I’m late.
I’m annoyed.
A bunch of butterflies fly by.
I remind myself to really see them, and to breathe.
I remind myself that I’m attempting to give up negative, angry or judgements thoughts for Lent.
Except for the podcast.
Sweetness and light might ruin the podcast.
Although I have to admit it’s somewhat sweet, and bittersweet.
When we started Steve said it would be healing for all three of us.
And this was before we knew Jillian had cancer.
Before Jillian started chemo.
Before she lost her hair.
After last week’s podcast I announced that I was going to get my roots done.
Then I froze.
Mortified.
Who says that to a bald woman?
Jillian laughed.
Then I laughed.
Now that’s a miracle.
Sometimes I’m still an insensitive idiot.
But I’m trying to be better.
At least I’m blonder.
Sometimes you’re wonderful
Other times you’re even better
